Water treatment
Pure treatment with bacterias
Water treatment is the heart of our activity. With the rapid evolution of cities and populations, our public networks need more than ever to be protected and maintained.
Thanks to exclusive processes, we are able to offer you efficient and continuous monitoring of your installations. Depending on your activity, the releases will cause different reactions in the pipes, which can lead to complicated situations ...
In the case of vegetable or animal fats used in the food industry and in the catering industry, the latter will, once in your pipes, come to stick to the walls as they cool, and eventually turn into a plug. .
This will rurge you to call a specialized cleaning company and will have a significant cost for you (not to mention the consequences that this will have on your activity: production shutdown, backflow of wastewater, foul odors, gas emissions, etc. ..). Indeed, once hardened grease becomes like concrete and the crust is relatively hard and therefore very difficult to remove ...
Unfortunately this is not the only problem you may face... In case of stagnant fat, the water below will become depleted of oxygen and the naturally present bacterias will start to produce a toxic gas: Hydrogen Sulfur (or H2S).
Through tehe testimonies of our customers around the world, we see a +/- 80% reduction in the emptying costs of their grease traps, while cleaning operations costs are reduced by half!
Hands-on experience:
To understand the efficiency of our installations and our bacterias, we recently treated a factory with a grease trap in which more than a meter of fat stagnated: it was possible to walk on it because the crust was so thick and hard. After our installation (and regular follow-up week after week), we were able to resolve the problem in barely 6 months, without blocking their activity, nor constraining anything in the factory.
And this is just one of the many cases we have faced ...
The TV news or different newspapers regularly mention various tremendous about this kind of locking situations: London, as a great European capital, recently hit the headlines due to a buildup of fat in the city's sewers (130 tons, 250 meters long: the equivalent of 11 Imperial buses!).

H2S or Hydrogen Sulphide

This gas, usually totally unknown to the general public, is nevertheless present in large quantities around us, more precisely under our feet.
Where does it come from?
With the discharges of our water (industrial or domestic), billions of present naturally bacterias will "consume" the nutrients present. In a first step, they will absorb oxygen, then nitrates (anaerobic). It is this last operation which will result in the production of H2S .
What is H2S?
It is a strongly odorous gas, similar to the smell of rotten eggs, which, at a certain level of concentration may become lethal for humans (but also for animals)
Being soluble in water, it is a pleague for fishes.
Some benchmarks:
It is measured in Particles Per Million (PPM) and will, depending on its concentration, cause different reactions:
-
from 0.004 PPM (i.e. a tiny amount), we will perceive it from its peculiar smell of rotten egg
-
from 10 PPM it causes eye irritation
-
by reaching 100 PPM, it will be responsible for coughing and a loss of smell after only 2 minutes of exposure
It is from this concentration that the risk becomes vital. Indeed, the loss of smell means that we can no longer detect it. If the concentration increases, we'll see what it does:
-
between 200 and 300 PPM our eyes will suffer a deep inflammation and our respiratory system will be irritated after one hour of exposure
-
from 500 PPM man loses consciousness and, if he is not quickly extracted from this environment, will die within 30 to 60 minutes ...
-
from 800 PPM the loss of consciousness will be almost immediate, the stopping of breathing also which will cause death
-
finally to 1 000 PPM our diaphragm will be paralyzed from the first inhalation and asphyxiation will be rapid ...
This is why so many cities around the world are investing large amont of money in the search for effective control of this gas.
In addition to this, H2S in contact with air results in the production of another equally harmful product: sulfuric acid, the effects of which are devastating on private and public equipment.
Indeed, this acid literally attacks most materials (concrete, metal, etc.) and causes great damage to them, which can lead to disastrous consequences for the environment (in addition to the enormous costs that this generates for the community).
HS TECHNICS HAS THE SOLUTION!
After years of research, our experts have developed a non-pathogenic vegetative bacterium which will capture the H2S and destroy it. By means of a suitable process and regular injection, this gas will no longer be produced, thus protecting your installation as far as the public network and further afield.
Do not hesitate to contact us for an inspection of your installations with the development of an adapted strategy and say goodbye to Hydrogen sulphide!
